After an exciting trip up to the Sulphur Mountain, we took a stroll in downtown Banff. One good thing about summertime is that the day is long, we even had supper in Banff before heading back to our hotel in Nananaskis. I got up early the next morning trying to capture a few pictures in the magic moment before hitting the road to Lake Louise. It was a bit chaotic because I didn’t pack my stuff properly, and in order not to wake my wife, I just grabbed a couple of lenses in the dark, one of them was a wrong one.

Barrier Lake is a man made reservoir at the north end of Kananaskis Country. Highway 40 runs between the land and Mount Baldy, on the eastern shore. It is entirely located in the Bow Valley Provincial Park. Barrier Lake was created for hydroelectric power generation on the Kananaskis River. The dam that impounds the lake is at the north end of the Lake. (Wikipedia)

Canmore and The Three Sisters: Canmore is a charming little town situated between Louise Lake and Banff. The town was a coal mining town in the late 1800s and boomed into the 20th century. By the ’70, the market for coal was diminished and after hosting the 1988’s Winter Olympics, the town began to develop into the recreational tourist destination it is today. The Three Sisters are a trio of peaks near Canmore.   (Info from Wikipedia)

We had visited Canmore twice that day. On the way back from Louise Lake, we stopped by and had dinner in an authentic Japanese restaurant.
