The parking lot for Thatbyinnyu Temple was a little away from the temple complex, and this gave us a chance to appreciate the beauty of the architecture of the monastery. Thatbyinnyu is known to be the tallest monument in Bagan and the sublimity it presents.
Wikipedia: Thatbyinnyu Temple (Burmese: သဗ္ဗညုဘုရား), Sabbannu or “the Omniscient”, is a famous temple located in Bagan (formerly Pagan), built in the mid-12th century during the reign of King Alaungsithu. It is adjacent to Ananda Temple. Thatbyinnyu Temple is shaped like a cross, but is not symmetrical. The temple has two primary storeys, with the seated Buddha image located on the second storey.
達比紐寺是蒲甘最高的寺院(201呎高) 。”達比紐” 是無所不知(Omniscience) 之意, 這是建寺時的原名。寺首建於1144年。寺乃两層結構, 每層有三淺階平台, 外觀宏偉。寺基本上為四方型, 中央部份密封, 四方各供有佛像。第二層不開放参觀。有部份天花和牆壁仍可見有裝飾性圖案, 猜想牆壁上原有壁画。
