Wikipedia: The Pindaya Caves (Burmese: ပင်းတယရွှေဥမင်, pronounced [pɪ́ɴdəja̰ ʃwè ṵmɪ̀ɴ]; officially ပင်းတယရွှေဥမင်သဘာဝလိုဏ်ဂူဘုရား), located next to the town of Pindaya, Shan State, Burma (Myanmar) are a Buddhist pilgrimage site and a tourist attraction located on a limestone ridge in the Myelat region. There are three caves on the ridge which runs north-south, but only the southern cave can be entered and explored. It is not known whether the other two penetrate for any extended distance into the hillside.

⇓ Pa Oo people (Pa’O people) ⇓ Wikipedia: The Pa’O people are the second largest ethnic group in the state of Shan. They also reside in Kayin State, Kayah State, Mon State, and the Bago Division. They are believed to be of Tibeto-Burman lineage, and share the language and culture of the Karen people. Historically, the Pa’O wore colorful clothing until King Anawratha defeated the Mon King, Makuta of Thaton. The Pa’O were enslaved and forced to wear indigo-dyed clothing to signify their status. ⇓

⇓ The legend of the spider: Pindaya Caves is also known as the Spider Caves, local legend goes, once a giant spider lived in the cave. One day, seven princesses were captured by the Spider and brought to the cave. The Prince of Shan happened to be in the neighborhood, he came to rescue by killing the giant spider with bow and arrow. The following photos tell the story.
⇓ 傳說很早以前, 賓達亞窟稱為蜘蛛洞，裡面住着吃人的蜘蛛精。一天, 七位公主在湖中出浴時，被蜘蛛精擄入石窟中，禅邦王子剛好在附近, 遂带弓箭射來賓達亞窟救公主。蜘蛛精聞訊出迎, 被王子一箭射殺, 救出七位公主。⇓ 賓達亞窟前有這一組雕像就講述這一故事。

⇑ Shwe U Min Pagoda or the Golden Cave Pagoda. ⇓ Devotee gilding gold-leaves to the pagoda base. It is generally believed that gilding a Buddha image or a stupa with gold leaf brings credit to the gilder.

Pindaya Caves is not just a popular tourist destination but also a Buddhist pilgrimage center. Shan state and the areas nearby inhibited a lot of minority communities. The souvenir shops outside the Pindaya Caves displayed a lot of minority dolls.
